The Blogger/Writer Dilemma

There's been a bunch of stuff circulating around today about aspiring writers and negative book reviews. (My friend Jami at YA Addict really breaks it down.) I really enjoy sharing my love for books on this blog--so I will continue to do so.  I wanted everyone to know that nothing is changing here.

I mean...

I already don't rate books.

I've only posted like 2 negative reviews--and they're staying because they're already posted.

If I have so-so feelings about a book, I'll keep telling you what I liked and what I didn't.

I feel most of my reviews tend to be recommendations anyway.

Giveaways, interviews, discussions, birthdays, reveals, writing dilemmas, life....it's still happening here.

I hope that's cool with everyone. Keep hanging out. And reading! If the blogs you read start changing, then respect that. There are tons of blogs who will keep giving reviews that go both ways. Here are a few from the top of my head:

Story Siren
Ticket to Anywhere
ReadingTeen
Overflowing Shelf
A Tale of Many Reviews
The Book Cellar
Good Books and Good Wine

Also, while I have your attention---if you've read Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsay Leavitt OR if you're super excited about it, leave a comment here with your email so you can be part of sekrit project!

  1. Interesting-- I hadn't thought about it like that. I like doing book reviews, although I'm not the best at it. Hmmm... must consider.

And I will certainly keep reading, because half of my TBR list comes from the reviews you do! ;)

  2. I don't do reviews, mainly because I don't feel qualified. I guess that turned out to be a good thing! (belated hello from a fellow crusader) :)

  3. *ack* Blogger ate my comment! I mostly just said I totally think you have the right approach. Yes, it's nice to be nice, but it is alos nice (to your readers) to be honest.

  5. I just found your blog and I think you're doing great :) I agree, most of my reviews are more recommendations than anything else, and most are just me gushing about what I loved :) I agree with what Kristi at The Story Siren says, about how she's more of a book blogger than a book reviewer, that's how I feel too :)

And I'm very excited about Sean Griswold's Head, it sounds like a fantastic book :D
